How sensitive are baby spinach plants to frost? - planting spinach

I planted a night under the impression that they were very tolerant of frost, know that it freeze tonight. This afternoon I went into the garden for a visit and are completely wilted, nearly dead. Do you think it might be something frozen or? This is only my second year in the garden and my first w / spinach.

In hindsight, it probably would have turned out if they knew that to freeze it. Probably have been protected and not enough "hardening off" and the ice was too. You can try the fertilization and irrigation, and see if they will return. Or before planting the next game, she sat before one or two weeks before planting. In this way they get the cold and the sun is used and is then ready for planting. You can bring in a factory, where the ice for up to them.

You can survive a light frost as newborns from seed, but not directly from a warm house or a greenhouse situation.

You can plant seeds in the cold and should do well, but not really faster and faster until it very hot.

If the depth of the water before freezing, it will be useful, especially if the soil has a chance to warm in the sun before nightfall. I also have the plants from frost by spraying, before the sun falls on them rescued.

But I think in this case, the plants were too young and too couldn't manage change quickly.
